On the Officers bulletin board of any ship, the owner has to note down:

  • ship purpose (pillage, trading, training, bloackade);
  • restock requirements;
  • porting option (same archipelago or everywhere).

1. The Officer who starts a pillage is the commanding officer and he/she is responsible for the vessel. If the commanding officer takes the helm, he can appoint a boatswain to coordinate seamen on the deck; otherwise he'll be in charge of assigning the helm to a navigator. He/she can be both only on sloops and cutters. Only the Commanding officer, unless he/she gives someone else those privileges, is allowed to set sail, sail at league points and put into port.

2. Before starting a pillage be sure there are enough mates available to join your voyage. You'll be always free to solo in a sloop, but that will be at your own risk.

3. If someone declines your invitation, don't insist. Don't set a vessel to sail without the approval of the mates aboard if any.

4. Choose carefully the ship you are going to navigate, especially if it's not one of yours, making sure its not used for other purposes (trade, blockade, etc.).

5. Every ship after being used has to be properly restocked and ported according the officer bulletin board requirements.

6. Inspect the hold and:

a. look for valuable commodities. If there are any then look for a different boat to use, unless you have already discussed this issue with your crew and they let you, in which case you can transfer them away and make a note on the officer bulletin board.

b. Check number of small cannonballs and rum. Note if this doesn't match restocking level. If there is no listed restocking level in the bulletin board, write down the current amounts of both and restock to those numbers at the end of the pillage.

c. Trade commodities . Buy small cannonballs and rum if you're low.

7. While boarding jobbers always give priority to your companions. You are allowed to run elite pillages only if you are alone or your crewmates are not available.

8. Once ready to set sail, assign stations to jobbers, taking into account their willingness and abilities.

9. Don't order a jobber to switch station unless it's really necessary for the good functioning of the ship.

10. Before ordering a jobber to switch, ask in the vessel chat or by a /tell. Use the boatswain whistle only as a second option.

11. Think carefully before forcing a jobber to walk the plank and always after three warnings. Good reasons to plank: a. excessive lazing; b. excessive spam; c. more than 1 booched or poor duty reports; e. the jobber got has disconnected.

12. Don't attack blue ships.

13. If you get a lot of damage you should take a station to get it down.

14. Check the mood of your jobbers and consider the opportunity to put into port if the majority of them is about to leave.

15. Take down the jobbing offer if you are about to put into port. If a jobber joined before you could put it down, while dividing the booty give him/her one of your shares of the booty.

16. Kraken blood and Gold are part of the booty and they have to be divided selling them by the booty pillaged before splitting it.

17. Once at port, divide the booty. You are allowed to assign one more share to those who attended the whole pillage and cut the pay of those attending only one battle (unless it's the last one). It would be nice to give one more share to those who provided many "incredibles" in the duty report.

18. Always thank the jobbers for coming.

19. Restock according to the requirements. Try not to port at uncolonized island, if so, leave a note on the bulletin board and be ready to help the owner of the ship move it back to the nearest island next time.

21. Handing the exceeding restock to the Treasurer or sharing it with your crew is a good practice.
